What the website supports
The website has been built with:
- semantic page landmarks and a consistent heading structure
- a skip link and visible keyboard focus
- keyboard-operable navigation and forms
- labels, instructions and linked error messages for form controls
- text that reflows on narrow screens and at increased zoom
- reduced-motion support and no information conveyed by colour alone
- direct phone and email links.
Display options
The Accessibility button in the site header opens display options you can adjust at any time:
- Text size — increase the site’s text to 112.5% or 125% of its default size. Browser zoom continues to work as well.
- Theme — choose a light or dark appearance, or match your device’s setting.
- High contrast — stronger colours, underlined links and visible boundaries around cards and controls.
Your choices are saved only in your browser’s local storage on your device. They are not sent to Acanthus Care and are not used to identify you. The website remains fully usable without JavaScript; without it the options button is simply not shown and your browser’s own zoom and contrast settings still apply.
Testing
Automated checks are included in the project and the core referral workflow is reviewed at mobile and desktop sizes. Automated testing does not find every barrier. Keyboard-only and screen-reader checks are part of the release checklist.
Ongoing review
We continue to review the site’s content, forms and third-party services. If you find a barrier, tell us what happened so we can understand the problem and work out another way for you to access the information or complete the task.
